Zeva Oelbaum and Sabine Krayenbühl cofounded Between the Rivers Productions in 2012. Their first film, about the female "Lawrence of Arabia" Gertrude Bell, Letters from Baghdad, is voiced and exec produced by Academy award-winner Tilda Swinton. The film was one of the top performing documentaries of 2017, screening in over 125 theaters across the U.S. and U.K.  It broadcast on networks across the globe including PBS, the BBC, and ARTE/France and Germany.

Their recent film, Obsessed with Light, is voiced by the Emmy and Tony award-winning actor Cherry Jones. The film  had its world premiere at the Rome Film Fest in 2023, has screened and broadcast all over the world and will be premiering theatrically on December 6th, 2024 at the Quad Cinema in New York City. 

 

The company’s work has been supported by numerous grants including the National Endowment for the Humanities, New York State Council on the Arts, Regina Scully/Artemis Rising Foundation, Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and the London-based Dangoor Education.
